<p>Carbohydrate foods can be ranked by their impact on blood glucose levels. This is know as GI or the glycemic index. The higher the GI the more rapidly the food is absorbed and the quicker glucose levels rise.</p>
<p>On the other hand, low GI foods are broken down more gradually. This leads to blood glucose levels that are more stable.This can help avoid a seesaw effect with fluctuations in both mood and energy.</p>
<p>Due to the increased digestion time, low GI foods release their energy more slowly into the bloodstream. This prolongs the feeling of being full, which reduced the need for snacks.<span id="more-396"></span></p>
<p>There is some evidence that diets which emphasize low GI foods might help improve the levels of ‘good’ cholesterol. On the other hand, diets emphasizing high GI foods can lead to the pancreas overproducing insulin in response to fluctuating blood sugar levels. Over time, this may lead to diseases such as type II diabetes or it’s precursor, Syndrome X.</p>
<p>Should you restrict your diet to only low GI foods? Most diets don’t recommend this because active people should aim for a balance of low GI and high GI foods to make sure they have optimal energy resources.</p>
<p>High glycemic index foods include many carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, rice, serial and baked goods. Low glycemic index foods tend to include fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes. However, within these broad categories there are differences. For example, bananas and potatoes would be classified as having a mid-range glycemic index.</p>
<p>There are other influences on GI level. For example, the methods used to process and cook food can drastically affect the GI. Usually, the more processed a food is, the higher the GI because less work needs to be done to digest the food.</p>
<p>Having a low GI food does not necessarily equate to ‘healthy’. For example, chocolate is a food with a low GI, but it is also energy rich and supplies few nutrients.</p>
<p>Nevertheless, GI can be a useful metric to help you choose appropriate foods for your diet.</p>

<p>A lot of high profile women are sporting some pretty lean arms these days. Madonna and Michelle Obama immediately come to mind. And I can guarantee you that they didn&#8217;t get said arms by doing push-ups all day.</p>
<p>In fact, knowing which exercises are effective and which are not is just as important as eating right. Unfortunately, most women are absolutely confused about which exercises are best.</p>
<p>And most women don&#8217;t know which exercises are good and which are bad. There is simply way to much misinformation out there for you to sift through. Luckily, I&#8217;ve already done all the sifting for you!<span id="more-360"></span></p>
<p>So here is my review of reverse grip push downs for the female arm:</p>
<p>1. Overview. Few women actually do this exercise because it requires putting your wrists in an awkward position. This exercise mainly targets the medial part of the triceps which makes up the inner part of your arm.</p>
<p>2. Quick start. Grasp a bar in front of a machine. Use an underhand grip. Keep your abs slightly contracted, and press the bar down while keeping the elbows frozen in place. Once you have gone through the entire range of motion, slowly let the bar up.</p>
<p>3. Common errors: Allowing the upper body&#8217;s posture to deviate. Rocking back and forth to get the bar down. Not keeping the weight of the body on the heels of the feet. Not keeping the elbows locked in place. And gripping the bar too tightly which can cause massive wrist strain.</p>
<p>4. To do or not to do. I do not recommend this exercise for one simple fact: you can&#8217;t go heavy. And if you want toned arms ASAP, you have to go heavy. Period. There is no way around this. So don&#8217;t do this exercise if you are on a strict deadline for sexy arm stardom.</p>
<p>So what&#8217;s the best way to get rid of the arm jiggle and get sexy arms? Well, the key is to do a variety of the top exercises so that you can hit your arms from every angle imaginable. Only then will you get the fastest arm-toning possible. And don&#8217;t fall for any flashy exercises that end up working areas of your body other than your arms!</p>
